On July 14, 2022, the “Sustainable Forest Management” Unit of the University of Valladolid was created as an associated R&D&I unit of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) through the Institute of Forestry Sciences (ICIFOR) and the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN).

The associated units are a formula that allows the temporary and flexible articulation of strictly scientific collaborations between CSIC research personnel and those of external entities that are integrated into these units.

The collaboration between the members of the Sustainable Forest Management Associated Unit and the collaborating researchers of ICIFOR and the MNCN of CSIC allows the increase of critical mass and therefore of scientific impact, multidisciplinarity and training capacity, while promoting the optimization of infrastructures and research resources in the field of Sustainable Forest Management. The main objective of the CSIC Associated Unit is to generate new knowledge that, through the improvement and development of theories and tools, allows improving forest management with a multidisciplinary scientific basis.
